About the event
BigHeat is the third chapter in the Classic Element Trail Series, a bold and immersive challenge inspired by the four classical elements—Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Representing Fire, BigHeat is designed to test your endurance across sun-scorched trails, dusty ridgelines, and forest paths radiating summer heat. Set in the heart of the South Downs, the event offers two trail distances: a Marathon and a 16-mile option. Both routes feature a single-loop course that winds through The Serpent Trail, explores the scenic Blackdown Hills, and passes the iconic Temple of the Winds viewpoint. Runners will finish alongside the River Rother in a buzzing event village at Rother College in Midhurst. Expect tough climbs, exposed ridgelines, and the raw energy of running under an open summer sky. This is trail running at its most elemental.
