About the event
Juan-Antonio Samaranch had a vision to turn Lausanne into a city of sports when he took office as President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In order to live up to this vision, the organizing committee of the 20km de Lausanne strives to make the event an exemplary showcase of sustainable development. This commitment was recognized by Swiss Olympic and its ecosport.ch program, which awarded the event the "for sustainable commitment" prize from 2015 to 2017.

At the end of the race, Chevrier Xavier and Kipkorir Mutai John crossed the finish line in the same time of 00:01:02. Shumie Birhanu Gadisa (00:01:03) made notched third place.
In the ladies race, Kosgei Chepchirchir Cynthia won the race with a time of 00:01:09 . Jerop Sarah earned runner-up honours with a time of 00:01:10. Rounding out the top three was Troxler Simone with a time of 00:01:16.
