About the event

The ATW St Albans Half Marathon is a well-established, multi-distance event that draws thousands of participants each year to Verulamium Park. Hosted on closed roads and fully UKA-licensed, the event features a Half Marathon (with both running and walking categories), a 10K, a 5K, and a 1.5-mile Fun Run—making it one of the most inclusive running festivals in Hertfordshire. The Half Marathon course leads runners through undulating country lanes with a total elevation gain of approximately 190 meters, while the 10K follows a flatter profile suitable for beginners and experienced runners alike. The 5K is chip-timed and open to ages 11+, while the Fun Run welcomes all ages, with a rolling start and optional medals for children. The event supports local charities, including a per-entry donation to maintain the Abbey View Athletics Track. Runners benefit from chip timing, pacer support, water stations, and a finish-line medal—plus ice lollies for Half Marathon finishers. The SA Law VIP area offers an upgrade option with refreshments and private facilities.

Highlights

From hilly half marathon terrain to flatter 10K and 5K options, all courses are well-marked, supported, and officially timed.

Options include a Walking Half Marathon (5-hour limit), Youth-eligible 5K (ages 11+), and Hertfordshire’s largest Fun Run—open to all ages.
