About the event
The Chevron Houston Marathon is a fast, flat, and crowd-heavy January classic—one of the premier early-season marathons in the U.S. Held annually since 1972, it includes a full marathon, half marathon (Aramco Houston Half), and 5K (3.1 mile), with a cap of 27,000 total entrants. The USATF-certified course has become a favorite for Boston qualifiers and Olympic hopefuls, and has hosted multiple U.S. championship races and the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. Starting downtown and finishing at the George R. Brown Convention Center, the route cuts through Houston’s most vibrant neighbourhoods—offering speed, scenery, and strong crowd support.
