 Some 1,200 Runners and Walkers Participated in This Fifth Annual Fundraising Event 
 NEW HOLLAND, Pa. – April 8, 2013 – Kenny Goodfellow, 23, of Rochester, N.Y., finished first in the fifth annual Garden Spot Village Marathon on Saturday, April 6, with a time of 2:35:30. Jennifer Terefencko, 34, of Pottsville, Pa., finished first in the Women’s Open Division and 19th overall, with a time of 3:14:00. 
 Michael Kubbutat, 52, of Schallstadt, Germany, won the Men’s Grand Masters Division for runners 50 years old and better, with a time of 3:25:43. Kathleen Sanders, 51, of Manheim, Pa., was the Women’s Grand Masters winner, finishing in 4:05:31. 
 “We were blessed with perfect running weather, the support of hundreds of volunteers who worked hard to make it a great event, and some 1,200 marathoners, half-marathoners and relay teams of all ages who came out to test themselves and support our Benevolent Fund,” said race director Scott Miller, himself a marathoner, who is also chief marketing officer of the retirementcommunity. 
 The oldest finisher in the marathon was Ian Sim, 80, from Alexandria, Ontario. The youngest marathon finishers were three 15-year-olds: Benjamin Bliss, of Corning, N.Y., Noah Buck, of Duncannon, Pa., and Presley Day, of Clifton, Virginia. Bliss and Buck both completed last year’s Garden Spot Village marathon as well. 
 TheGarden Spot Village Marathon is believed to be the first marathon hosted by a retirement community. Beginning and ending on the community’s 104-acre campus, the USA Track &amp; Field (USATF)-certified course runs along rural roads through scenic Lancaster County, Pa. The consensus among participants is that the course is both challenging and exceptionally beautiful. 
 To encourage a broad range of participation, the event recognizes individual achievement in five-year age categories to ages 80-plus, and the course remains open until the last participant has finished. 
 The event is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. 
 First-place marathon finishers in each of four categories won cash awards: Men Overall, Women Overall, Men’s Grand Masters (50-plus) and Women’s Grand Masters (50-plus). The Garden Spot Village Marathon is unique in that the masters awards for runners 50-plus are the same amounts as the overall awards.

Garden Spot Village Announces Preliminary Marathon Results

 Marathoners, relay teams and walkers are invited to participate in the fifth annual Garden Spot Village marathon on Saturday, April 6, 2013, starting at 8 a.m. The 26.2-mile USA Track &amp; Field (USATF)-certified, Boston Marathon qualifier course begins and ends at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, Pa. A 13.1-mile half-marathon will also be available for participants who want a shorter course. Race packs will be available at 6:30 a.m., and a pre-race pasta dinner will be held on April 5. Participants will have access to showers, pool and hot tub after the race. 
 Proceeds benefit the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund. 
 Pre-registration discounts available until March 1.
